Our Eczema Journey

Two mums, four children; and one common battle - Eczema.

Both our firstborns developed eczema in their first year which led us on a journey to share tips and resources on caring for babies with eczema.

Just when we thought that their eczema was under control after multiple visits to the PD and skin specialists - all of a sudden their eczema would take a turn for the worse in a day.

After some googling and reading, we realised that their clothes may have been the biggest problem - synthetic materials such as polyester and nylon, cause overheating, sweating and irritation, which led to them scratching at those red, itchy eczema spots (yes, even if it's just 5% polyester and 95% cotton). The nature of these harsh fabrics coupled with poorly sewn seams was the root cause of problems of their sensitive and eczema-prone skin.

We discovered bamboo clothing, which is known for its luxuriously soft and cooling properties which makes it perfect for Singapore's hot and humid weather.

Day in, day out, our little ones' skin is in constant contact with the clothing they wear. Making the switch to bamboo clothing was a no-brainer. With better bamboo clothes that were breathable, hypoallergenic, anti-bacterial, and thermoregulating, our little ones were able to play better and sleep better. Their eczema symptoms were also kept under control and eventually went away.

Our philosophy is "happy baby, happy parents".

Here at The Green Edit, we are committed to creating affordable and slow, sustainable fashion that is gentle on your little one’s skin.

We also hope that The Green Edit can be a platform for parents to connect, engage and support each other through this beautiful journey of parenthood.

"Eczema is actually a common skin condition that affects one in five children in Singapore, out of which, 60% of them develop eczema in their first year of life."
